Just an update on my training: I didn’t run last week, was way to sick with a cold. You know the blocked nose, green snot, sore throat and fogginess.
Went for my first run yesterday.. only did 5km but I am feeling strong and ready to train this week. I go back to Pilates on Thursday and I am hiking in the afternoon, table mountain.
I spent the whole of last week reading ‘Grain Brain‘ a book my brother suggested I read. A must read Grain Brain. and I am so excited to share it with my readers. This book has changed the way I see food and consume it. It is written by David Perlmutter a renowned neurologist. He explains how you can stimulate new brain cells at any age by just changing your dietary choices and lifestyle habits. He talks about how carbs are destroying our brain and it not just bad carbs but good healthy carbs too, for example whole grains and to stay away from gluten,completely, he provides a list of gluten free carbs and a list of carbs that have gluten in it. (read book for more better explanations and information.) Basically offering a detailed understanding at how to control our ‘smart genes’ at the same time overall health and even weight-loss. He talks about dementia, ADHD, anxiety, chronic headaches, depression, and much more in his book and how eating right contributes and every aspect. He is not all disregarding not eating good carbs but he promotes us to eat it now and then and not everyday, more good fats and fresh vegetables. ( Book provides all answers and questions.) Don’t worry you will still enjoy full cream milk, cream and coffee. This is not a diet but a lifestyle change.
